What are news feeds?
Cardiff International Airport offers news feeds so that you can stay up to date with all of our latest news. They allow you to see newly added content as soon as Cardiff International Airport publish it on the website. It is a source of constantly updating content which can be read by an 'aggregator' (or feed reader).
An aggregator is a software application (sometimes contained within a browser itself) that automatically retrieves content from an online source (or newsfeed). You can set your aggregator to subscribe to certain newsfeeds and check for new content at defined intervals.
What is RSS?
RSS is a way of letting you subscribe to our news feeds through your web browser or an RSS web site.
What is Atom?
Atom is another way of doing the same thing as RSS but is an official Internet standard. However it is not as widely used as RSS.
How do I use them?
We offer news feeds in a variety of standards so that we are compatible with as many news readers as possible. If you are not sure which one to add, we would suggest trying the RSS 2.0 feed first, as the majority of modern aggregators are compatible with this version.
How do I get one?
If you use Firefox 1.5 (or above), Internet Explorer 7 or Opera, clicking on a link to an RSS feed will show you a set of options, either to subscribe to the feed within the browser, or to add the feed to one of several online news readers.
In older versions of IE, Firefox, and Safari, clicking on an RSS link can result in the browser simply displaying some code - this is the XML code that a "feed reader" interprets. In any of these circumstances you can still copy the link to the relevant news feed, and paste it into a 'subscribe' or 'add subscription' box in your feed reader.
