Holiday makers and business travellers are not the only high-speed traffic at Cardiff International Airport following the arrival of BT Openzone.
The Wi-Fi hotspots were installed in both the departure and executive lounges as well as other public areas - providing Wi-Fi access for any of the 1.9 million passengers passing through the airport each year.
Travellers using the airport lounges can now access their emails, surf the internet and check out the latest news on their destinations on their laptop or Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) without the need to plug into a phone line.
Recent BT Openzone research has shown that UK businesses could be missing out on over £500 million per year in lost productivity because business travellers using airport lounges could not gain access to their corporate network while they waited for flights.
Jon Horne, Managing Director at Cardiff International Airport said: "This partnership with BT Openzone has enabled us to increase our services to travellers and greatly enhance their travelling experience from Cardiff. We are a growing international airport and innovation is always high on our agenda. This is a great example of providing the leading edge services that our growing number of customers require."
Ian Livingston, CEO of BT Retail added: "Whether passengers are travelling to meetings on business or simply wanting to get away from it all for a holiday, Wi-Fi access is becoming ever-more important for many people."
