Cardiff Airport expands operations
03 December 2004
Following this week's announcement that Zoom Airlines will be operating a low-cost service to Canada next year, South Wales and South West passengers can look forward to yet another new route from Cardiff International Airport to Portugal in summer 2005.
bmibaby has introduced the new summer direct scheduled service
to Faro and will depart from Cardiff International twice a week on
Tuesdays and Saturdays with a Boeing 737-300 aircraft of 148
seats.
The award winning airline with tiny fares, bmibaby, has also
increased the frequency of its flights to Paris and Belfast to a
double daily service as opposed to once a day, and has upped the
frequency of the Palma flight to five times a week compared to four
in summer 2004.
Cardiff International Airport's Sales and Marketing Manager Vincent
Rey explains, "We are delighted that bmibaby is expanding
operations at Cardiff International Airport and the announcement is
good news for both our leisure and business travellers in South
Wales and the West.
"The Algarve area of Portugal is blessed with a warm sunny climate
full of picturesque towns and villages inevitably painted in the
pastel colours that characterize the area. Sandy beaches with
unusual rock formations abound and the area is also very popular
with golfers, with some twenty plus courses to be found in the
region.
"Faro the capital, is renowned as an artistic centre with dozens of
theatres, concert halls, galleries and museums, and I am confident
that this route will prove successful"
The summer flights are in operation from March and October 2005 and
the summer timetable is now available on the bmibaby web site
showing the validity dates. The summer 2005 flights are currently
on sale and can be booked online on bmibaby.com. Internet fares
start from just £9.99 one way, excluding taxes and charges.
