ZOOM DOUBLES DESTINATIONS FROM CARDIFF TO CANADA
23 September 2005
Zoom Airlines today (Friday) announced details of its expanded summer 2006 programme of flights from Cardiff to Canada, with the introduction of a direct flight to one of Canada's most popular tourist destinations.
Vancouver has now been added to Zoom's schedule of flights from Cardiff International Airport next summer. The Vancouver flight will commence at the start of June 2006 and depart weekly on a Saturday at prices starting from £119 one-way plus tax.
Zoom will be the only airline offering flights to Vancouver throughout summer 2006 for the whole of Wales and the West of England and is currently the only airline offering scheduled flights to Canada from Cardiff International Airport.
Zoom will continue to operate a weekly flight from Cardiff to Toronto on a Tuesday at prices starting from £69 one-way plus tax, a route which has proved extremely popular since it was first introduced in April this year.
Debbie Marshall, UK Director of Zoom Airlines said: "Vancouver is a vibrant city and have proved to be one of the most popular summer routes this year. We are delighted to be adding this destination to our Cardiff service, doubling the number of Canadian destinations for summer 2006. We offer the lowest scheduled fares across the Atlantic and have been amazed at the level of localised demand for our flights."
Zoom flights are high standard at low-cost and offer a full scheduled service onboard. Premium seats are also available on all Zoom flights and can be booked for an additional £49 each way to East Coast destinations and £79 each way to West Coast, offering additional legroom, superior in-flight meals and complimentary drinks for the duration of your flight.
Jon Horne, Managing Director of Cardiff International Airport, said: "This is the first time in the history of the airport that there has been a service from Cardiff to Vancouver or anywhere on the west coast of North America. Zoom Airlines has now made it easier for people wanting to travel on business, on holiday or to visit friends and relatives in Vancouver or Toronto, and with their attractive prices and flexibility of durations this is good news for the people of Wales and the West of England.
"Vancouver is an important destination for business travellers in the West of England as it gives easy access to Seattle, which has crucial links to the local economy. This additional destination brings the total of long-haul routes from Cardiff to five: Cancun, Orlando Sanford, Puerto Plata, Toronto, and now Vancouver, demonstrating the airport's competitive position in the market serving Wales and, increasingly, the West of England", said Mr Horne.
Summer 2006 flights can now be booked at www.flyzoom.com or by calling 0870 240 0055.
