17 November 2005
Fly from Cardiff to Manchester or Newquay from just £19 with Air Southwest.
Air Southwest, one of the UK's fastest growing low fares regional airlines, has today (November 16) announced the launch of new flights from Cardiff International Airport to Manchester and Newquay in Cornwall from just £19 one-way including all taxes and charges.
Air Southwest will fly twice a day to Manchester and Newquay on weekdays, and once a day at weekends.
Tickets for the new flights go on sale today at www.airsouthwest.com and the flights will start on April 10 next year, so passengers are urged to book early to secure the best deals.
Air Southwest was launched two years ago and is part of the Plymouth-based transport and regeneration group Sutton Harbour Holdings Plc, which is listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Malcolm Naylor, chief executive of Air Southwest, said: "We think there are great opportunities out of Cardiff and our new flights will save customers hours compared to travelling by road or rail and without hitting them in the pocket.
"We expect the Manchester service to be a big hit with business travellers because they can fly there and back the same day while Newquay is the perfect place to chill out and let your hair down."
Cardiff International Airport Managing Director Jon Horne said: "Air Southwest is one of the UK's most successful regional airlines and they have a great record in the industry for their professionalism and developing user-friendly routes.
"We are very proud to be welcoming Air Southwest to Cardiff International and we look forward to working with them."
Air Southwest operates a fleet of comfortable 50-seater Dash 8-300 aircraft. The flight time to Manchester is just 55 minutes and to Newquay 35 minutes.
Newquay Airport is just four miles from Watergate Bay, one of the best bathing and surfing beaches in the country and - from May of next year - home to Jamie Oliver's brand new Fifteen Cornwall restaurant.
Malcolm added: "Our choice of Manchester for our other new route from Cardiff builds on our successful formula of providing city-to-city services at times and prices that suit both business and leisure travellers, and Manchester also offers a wealth of worldwide destinations."
