23 March 2006
Cardiff International Airport's managing director Jon Horne stated today: "We are sad to learn that Air Wales is to cease scheduled operations and hope that the impact on jobs can be minimised.
"Meanwhile, other airlines are preparing to announce scheduled operations from Cardiff International on routes that Air Wales will be giving up."
From 24 April, three airlines will be investing in regional services from Cardiff International.
Aer Arann, which had earlier announced services between Cardiff and Brittany, plans to announce fares and schedules for six flights a week between Cardiff and Cork, starting on 24 April. Details will appear on their web site early next week.
Eastern Airways is to take over Cardiff - Brussels, Cardiff - Aberdeen and Cardiff - Newcastle services on the same date.
As already announced, Air Southwest begins its twice-daily
