CURRENT SECURITY MEASURES - CHECK BEFORE YOU CHECK-IN
23 April 2007
Before you check-in your baggage, remember that you should now pack away certain items that you were previously able to carry in hand baggage. Security measures only allow for a limited volume of liquids to be carried in transparent resealable bags. Please read the full rules below.
What can I now take through airport security?
1) ONE item of hand baggage is permitted
through the airport Security Search Area.
The maximum dimensions of the hand baggage are as follows:
. 56 centimetres long (approximately 22 inches)
. 45 centimetres high (approximately 17.5 inches)
. 25 centimetres deep (approximately 9.85 inches).
PLEASE NOTE - smaller hand baggage sizes may apply
depending on which airline you are travelling with. Please check
with your airline prior to travelling to ensure your hand baggage
does not exceed their maximum permitted size.
2) Liquids (including gels, pastes, lotions,
liquid/solid mixtures, and the contents of pressurized containers)
may be carried through the Security Search Point. However,
liquids are limited to 100mls per container and MUST be placed in
ONE transparent, resealable plastic bag with a
MAXIMUM capacity of one litre.
Only ONE plastic bag per passenger may be taken through the Security Search Point and must be presented separately from the allowed one piece of cabin baggage.
The dimensions of the plastic bag must not exceed 8" x 8".
3) In addition, each passenger is permitted to carry through
one musical instrument in its case.
All laptops and other electrical items must be removed from the bag
and placed in a tray so that they neither obscure nor are obscured
by the bag.
Pushchairs and walking aids are permitted but will be x-ray
screened. Wheelchairs are permitted but will be thoroughly
searched.
What can I buy before I fly?
Passengers to all destinations INCLUDING the USA,
Canada, the Dominican Republic and Mexico may buy any item in shops
after the Security Search Area.
Driving to the airport
If you are driving to Cardiff International Airport, you will find that there are enhanced security measures on the approach roads.
Please allow plenty of time for your journey as you may be delayed by these measures. Security personnel will direct your vehicle when you arrive.
It is not possible to drive to the front of the terminal building. If you are picking up or dropping off passengers, you must go to the short term car park which is just a short walk from the terminal. The first 20 minutes of your stay in the car park will be free.
Please do not pick up/drop off on approach roads as this may create traffic congestion and will also mean a longer walk for your passengers.
Allow plenty of time for travelling to the airport, as well as for check-in and passing through the security checkpoint. Check with your airline before starting your journey to the airport, and view the airport website (www.cwlfly.com) and the Department for Transports website (www.dft.gov.uk) for the latest travel information.
Cardiff International Airport would like to thank its customers
for their patience and goodwill during this period of enhanced
security.
