Paris in the summertime for Welsh travellers
30 April 2007
Flybe today launches first direct flights from Cardiff to Paris.
Flybe, Europe's largest regional airline, launches its first ever flights from Cardiff direct to the French capital city of Paris.
With fares from just £34.99 one way including taxes and charges, travellers from Wales have been snapping up seats, bagging a bargain break to the city. The service runs seven days a week throughout the year with seats available for booking at www.flybe.com and - offering convenient early morning departure and same day afternoon returns - will prove of especial interest to business travellers.
Flybe has introduced the direct service to Paris following the recent acquisition of BA Connect earlier this year, adding the Welsh capital to its list of UK bases and providing the people of Wales, especially from its South West region, with a low cost and convenient travel alternative. To celebrate the launch of the new route, Flybe is offering readers of local regional press the opportunity to win five pairs of return tickets per title, with competition details being published over the next few weeks starting May 9.
Says Mike Rutter, Chief Commercial Officer, Flybe: "Travellers
across Wales have responded incredibly well to this service since
we announced it earlier this year, with a mixture of business and
leisure travellers keen to take advantage of our low-cost, direct
service."
Paris, the cosmopolitan and business capital of France offers a wealth of exciting historical and cultural places of interest to visit, as well as a vibrant nightlife, great shopping and a wide array of restaurants serving the finest in French cuisine. It is also ideally located to explore the rest that France has to offer from the vineyards of Bordeaux to the beaches of Nice. Leisure and business travellers can also use the city as a stop-off destination before jetting off on one of the many worldwide connections available from Charles de Gaulle airport.
Jon Horne, Managing Director of Cardiff International comments: "By founding Flybe's new Cardiff base on much-needed, low fare flights to Paris, the airline's investment in Wales has got off to a great start. This is a carrier that has huge capability in growing services from Europe's regions. It is exciting to watch the process begin today."
"The acquisition of BA Connect has allowed Flybe to introduce further new routes and bases as we grow into a bigger and stronger airline, bringing even greater travel choice to the regions," adds Rutter. "The addition of Cardiff as a new base for Flybe is of significant importance to us. We're committed to investing in the region and will continue to bring our low cost, high quality service to our customers."
