Gdansk, located on Poland's Baltic coast, offers picturesque
gabled burgher houses, cobbled streets, medieval buildings and a
bustling café culture. World War II began in the city and
communism was overthrown here. Gdansk is home to the largest
brick church in Europe, a towering medieval port crane and
beautiful open squares. Lesser known are the miles of beaches that
can be accessed from the city. Gdansk also offers some great
events including 'Feta - International Festival of Open Air and
Street Theatre Performances' which sees stilt walkers, mime acts
and dancers perform amidst the beautiful scenery of Gdansk's
historic streets. Alternatively 'Sail Gdansk' sees the bay
come alive with a flotilla of fantastic sailing vessels. Both
festivals are in July. Flights to Gdansk start from just £21.99 one
way including taxes and charges.
