Goodbye Dakotas
21 April 2008
GOODBYE DAKOTAS Farewell tour 2008
Recapture the romance of a by-gone era whilst you can on a very special flight.
On the 15th July the last passenger-carrying Dakota in the UK will operate its final passenger flight.
The beautiful and iconic Dakota or "Dak" as it was affectionately known built in 1944 was famous throughout World War 2 and instrumental in the Berlin airlift. After the war this famous and unique airliner became the backbone of many developing airlines throughout the world, making passenger flight comfortable, and above all safe.
Despite still going strong, sadly due to changes in European regulations, the romance of vintage Dakota flying will cease.
The farewell tour will bring the music of the aircrafts twin Pratt and Whitney engines to Cardiff Airport.
You have been invited you to join these commemorative flights, to hear the thunder of those great engines for what could be the last time. Help make this farewell tour the send off these dependable old birds deserve.
