Travel show proves big hit
02 March 2005
More than 2,000 people entered Cardiff International Airport's prize draw at the Welsh Holiday & Travel Show for the chance of winning a £200 bmibaby holiday voucher.
The Travel Show, held at the Cardiff International Arena in
February (18-20), attracted a large crowd over the three-day period
and proved a great success. The winner of the holiday voucher was
Joan Wilsher from Abertillery in Blaenau Gwent.
Cardiff International Airport was one of the many exhibitors at the
Show and travel agents and airlines who attended included Thomas
Cook, Balkan Holidays, Air Wales, Goldtrail Holidays, KLM, Thomson,
First Choice and Zoom Airlines.
Cardiff International Airport's sales & marketing manager
Vincent Rey says, "This was the first ever Holiday and Travel Show
to be held in Wales and we were very happy with the numbers of the
public who attended the show. The large and varied number of
exhibitors including Tourist Boards, Hotel representatives and Tour
operators made this an interesting and worthwhile experience for
visitors.
"The event I feel sure will progress and develop annually and will
very soon become one of the highlights of the year bringing to
Wales a Travel and Tourism event not to be missed. Lots of interest
was shown in the holidays and special offers available to visitors
to the exhibition and a number of bookings were actually made with
different travel agents over the three day period.
"We were able to inform people about some of the newly announced
routes from Cardiff International including Zoom Airlines' Toronto
flight, bmibaby's summer scheduled service to Faro and the winter
charter service to Sharm el Sheikh with Thomson Holidays. We were
also able to talk about the plans and aspirations we have at the
airport to introduce an even wider and more diverse range of
destinations in the not too distant future."
