Airport raise £3,800 for Tsunami Appeal
07 February 2005
More than £3,800 was raised last week in a tsunami appeal quiz night organised by Cardiff International Airport in conjunction with Cardiff Hilton Hotel.
The evening, hosted by Radio Wales presenter Jon Dee, attracted
more than 240 people and the funds raised will help towards the
relief effort in Asia.
Cardiff International Airport Managing Director Jon Horne explains,
"We are delighted with the amount of money that was raised and hope
that our contribution will make a difference.
We would like to thank all those organisations who provided us with
great prizes and the individuals who took part in the quiz, for
their generosity and support.
"The aim of the evening was also to encourage our partners to
continue with the fundraising effort as this is an on-going issue
and will not be resolved overnight."
Prizes included a holiday for two in Majorca, two Air Wales
tickets, a night for two at the Hilton, St. Davids and Holland
House Hotel as well as a signed Ospreys and Cardiff City
shirt.
Tickets for the quiz night, organised by Cardiff International
Airport, sold out soon after going on sale and the teams who
participated included the Wales Tourist Board, the Welsh Assembly
Government, bmibaby, Cardiff County Council, National Air Traffic
and Caxton Facilities Management.
