Cardiff Airport aids in Tsunami Appeal
05 January 2005
Cardiff International Airport is today (5 January) participating in the three-minute silence at 12 noon in memory of those killed in the Asian tsunami disaster.
Since the disaster struck collection buckets have been placed in
and around the airport and passengers and staff have been donating
generously.
Cardiff International Airport's Managing Director, Jon Horne
explains, "Collecting began as soon as the scale of the disaster
became apparent and the funds raised by this collection will go to
the Disaster Emergency Committee relief effort in Asia.
"If any passengers want to make a donation, but have not been able
to before flying off on business or holiday, they can do so prior
to their departure in the knowledge that their donation will go to
the right people."
He adds, "At such a tragic time, we are pleased to do all we can to
help the relief effort. The airport has also offered free landing
fees to carriers that may wish to operate relief flights from
Cardiff. Those wishing to use the airport should contact us
directly."
A quiz night will be held over the next coming weeks to raise vital
funds towards the Asian tsunami appeal in conjunction with Cardiff
Hilton Hotel with teams from the Airport's airlines, tour operators
and ground handling agents taking part.
