Cardiff Academy of Aviation Open Weekend
12 November 2004
Cardiff Academy of Aviation will be opening its doors for this first time this weekend, welcoming potential aviators and the general public to view its new facilities and superb fleet of state of the art aircraft.
The Academy, which is open to the general public from 9am-6pm on
Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th November, is being fully refurbished,
with a stylish new lounge bar and restaurant, aviation shop, café
bar and a superb panoramic all weather viewing gallery with decked
area and outdoor seating overlooking Cardiff International
Airport's runway.
Managing Director, Gary Jones, said "This is an exciting time for
us - the refurbishment of the Academy is almost complete, and our
fleet of new 2 and 4 seater aircraft are now available for hire. In
addition, we have recently appointed a Chief Flying Instructor with
many years of experience who will be a great asset to the
Academy".
The new fleet will include two Robin DR400-120 Dauphin Alpha 120 T
aircrafts and five DA40 Diamond Star turbo diesel aircrafts.
The Academy, located on the site of the former Cardiff Wales Flying
Club, provides a friendly and relaxed club environment for private,
flying and social members and visiting aviators, and has ambitious
plans to become of the UK's most well respected flying
schools.
All visitors are welcome this weekend - whether you have a burning
passion for aviation and want to chat with the pilots, are thinking
of booking a trial flight as a Christmas gift, or are just looking
for a family afternoon out, watching the activity out on the
runway.
The Academy is situated in the White Building on the south side of
Cardiff International Airport - follow the signs to Rhoose. For
