15 October 2004
Cardiff International Airport is once again in top class company with the bigger UK airports after being voted one of the Top 10 Best Airports in the World by the Telegraph Travel Awards.
For a second consecutive year, Cardiff International Airport has
been recognised as a quality operator which meets the needs of its
customers and is rapidly developing in line with passenger
requirements.
Out of the Top 10 Best Airports in the World, six of them were in
Britain and included Manchester, Birmingham, East Midlands,
Stansted and Newcastle. Changi Airport in Singapore was named the
Best Airport for a fifth consecutive year.
Cardiff International Airport Head of Business Development Steve
Hodgetts explains, "We are continually striving to improve quality
at Cardiff International which is a focus shared with our partners
bmibaby who were also voted 'Best No Frills Airline' at the event.
We have a discerning and loyal customer base who we thank for
nominating us for the second year running."
"The recognition is greatly welcomed and will definitely aid in
attracting further business to Cardiff International Airport. We
are looking to see steady expansion of choice of tour operators and
routes from Cardiff and are always in discussions with airlines and
operators to offer new products."
Cardiff International is working closely with organisations in
Wales to bring greater improvements to the transport infrastructure
and plans are already in place to re-open the Vale of Glamorgan
train line with a new station named Rhoose Cardiff International
Airport, scheduled to open in spring 2005, and enhancing the
existing road network to the airport.
Cardiff International has seen a growth in the number of passengers
since the introduction of Air Wales and bmibaby, who scooped the
'Best No Frills Airline' for the second year running at the
Telegraph Travel Awards.
The Awards, which took place on Wednesday 6 October and presented
by Angus Deayton at the Renaissance Chancery Court Hotel in London,
have become established as the most prestigious and reliable
indicator of excellence in the travel trade.
More than 26,000 questionnaires were sent to The Daily and The
Sunday Telegraph readers who voted for their best airports,
airlines and tour operators.
