Airport Supports Puppy Appeal
07 March 2005
Cardiff International Airport's Safety and Security Manager, Dennis Bailey and his wife Jenny, will be running in the Flora London Half Marathon this Sunday (13th March 2005) all in aid of The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.
Cardiff International Airport staff is taking on the challenge of raising £5,000 to sponsor a guide dog puppy for the first year of its life by holding various fundraising initiatives throughout the year.
The half marathon will take place around the Silverstone Grand Prix track and surrounding areas and has attracted thousands of participants from all over the country. Dennis explains, "Jenny and I enjoy running for charity and we are particularly pleased to be supporting Guide Dogs for the Blind Association on this occasion. We have collected several thousands pounds over the past few years for various charities and hope that the sponsorship we collect this time will aid a blind or partially sighted person in the future."
The money raised through the half marathon will be a step closer towards the target of £5,000 needed to sponsor a guide dog puppy in their first year of training. Other fundraising initiatives this year will include a quiz night, a barbecue and a cheese and wine evening.
Jessica Stickland from the Guide Dogs says, "We are thrilled that Cardiff International Airport is supporting our on going commitment to provide blind and partially sighted people with independence, dignity and freedom through their sponsoring a guide dog puppy. We are confident that they will reach their target and wish them well in their fundraising effort."
