Cardiff International expands business offering
20 January 2006
Business travel from Wales is rising as more destinations are offered from Cardiff International Airport, prompting plans to double the size of the airport's 51º executive lounge.
Scheduled passenger traffic from Cardiff International grew by
five per cent last year and will expand further with the addition
of more routes for 2006.
New scheduled connections are being launched to Brussels in
Belgium, Paris Beauvais and Rennes in France, Manchester, Newquay,
Belfast City, and Glasgow in the UK and Vancouver in Canada. More
frequencies are also being added on the busy Amsterdam and Dublin
routes, with Cardiff - Newcastle getting not only more frequencies
but also a new timetable that allows business travellers a full
working day.
In response to these airline developments, Cardiff International's
managing director Jon Horne has announced the expansion of the 51º
lounge less than two years after its official opening.
"Our growing network of scheduled destinations means we have to
keep pace with the demand for high quality facilities expected by
today's business travellers. Our lounge has been enormously
popular since its opening two years ago and we will now double its
size to maintain its high standards of quality and comfort. "
The expanded executive lounge will be completed by the summer
months, providing more seating and a quiet zone with Internet
access points for those wishing to work on the move.
