2009 set to be a fiery year
23 September 2008
Cardiff International Airport has teamed up with Ty Hafan to create a calendar that's certain to fire things up in 2009.
Eleven of the airport's firefighters gathered for a photo shoot, together with photographer Malcolm Bradbury and Karen and Sarah from H'art and Soul beauty salon. This is the second time the men have posed for the cameras following the huge success of the first edition published in 2006, and money raised this time around will be in aid of Ty Hafan.
Ty Hafan is the airport's official charity until April 2009, with all funds raised going towards the charity which provides respite, palliative and end of life care for children throughout Wales who are unlikely to reach adulthood.
Cassie Harwood-Munton, the airport's marketing and PR manager said: "We're hoping to launch the calendar during the charity's Butterfly Week, from 20 to 27 September, and it promises to be a winner as we've already received a number of pre-orders.
"We're thankful to everyone involved for the time and effort they put in to this project, which turned out to be great fun! The calendar was a big hit in 2006, and we hope the success will be repeated this year so we can help Ty Hafan raise much needed funds".
Frank Ady, Head of Corporate Partnerhsips for Ty Hafan added "We feel very privileged that Cardiff International Airport has chosen to support Ty Hafan this year. These calendars are a great idea that always seem to go down well as a fund raising initiative. The money raised by this superbly produced calendar will make an enormous difference to the lives of the children at the hospice and is very much appreciated"
Following a miserable summer and with the prospect of a cold winter ahead of us the calendars are guaranteed to raise temperatures heading into 2009. They will be on sale from Friday, 26 September for £3.50 with all proceeds going to Ty Hafan.
